Bembridge Angling Club 2010 Open Bream Competition
Club President Bob Cowley (right) presents Winner Liam Smith with £200 first prize in the 2010 open Bream competition.

As a result of the annihilation of virtually the entire breeding stock in Sandown Bay by commercial netters, many boats opted to fish to the East of the bay.
Those boats that managed to find Bream reported that they were virtually all small juvenile fish with the larger adults very difficult to locate.
In the interests of conservation, BAC would only accept 2 fish per angler.
Liam Smith walked off with the £200 first prize for his 2 fish combined weight of 5 lbs 4 oz
Wayne Egerton took the £150 second prize with 4 lbs 8 ozs
Hugh Racket took both the £75 third place prize, sponsored by Charles Smallman, for his 4 lbs 4 ozs bag and also £25 sponsored by Joe Filipe, for the heaviest single Bream of the competition at 3 lbs ½ oz
Gareth Croft took the £50 fourth place prize, sponsored by Nick Challen, with 4 lbs 2 ½ ozs
Liam & Mark Smith took £25 each for the paired combined heaviest braces of Bream sponsored jointly by Dave Gawn & Ross Staplehurst.
A number of other sponsored prizes were given for bags down to just over 3 lbs.
BAC thanks all their kind sponsors plus all competitors for supporting the club.
